History

Voice Connection Inc was founded in 1987 by four Portland, Oregon-area entrepreneurs who had a vision of providing voicemail services to small and medium-sized businesses. As the business grew in the early 1990's, various new IVR services were added including call recording, dealer locator, transcription services and intelligent call routing. Unique applications were developed around these capabilities. Inbound interactive voice response (IVR) capability was added in the mid-90's. Outbound interactive voice response was added in 2007.

In 2011, an exciting new emergency notification service was added using an innovative, map-based interface to select an area requiring an alert or notification. Using this technology, rapid emergency notifications, such as reverse 911, can be sent by drawing a circle, retangle or polygon around the affected areas on a map. With 15 levels of zoom-in / zoom out, this allows granularity in notifications down to the street level. This enables city, state or local emergency management agencies to send very precise phone, text and email alerts and notices for weather, industrial or other emergencies.

Today, our IVR, Voice XML, and web services engineers are working diligently to provide a range of services that allow our customers the ability to combine voice calls, text messaging and email to delivering effective solutions that lower our client's costs and improve productivity.
